Welcome to the West Central Chapter
We are strengthening our impact by establishing important working relationships with other caucuses, environmental and civic groups, and elected officials. Some of these groups include Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council, Pinellas County Commissioners, St Petersburg City Council, Tampa Bay Estuary Program, Sierra Club, and St. Petersburg Sustainability Council.
We have a strong Political Action Committee, which interviews and endorses candidates, as well as develops strategies for getting them elected. We work to bring about legislation, which is favorable to the environment. We partner with the Florida Progressives to develop and update the environmental portion of the spreadsheet, Progressive Priority Legislation.
Our chapter is a member of Sierra Club Beyond Coal Campaign Coalition, and members recently traveled to Tallahassee to show support for renewable energy at the Florida Public Service Commission hearing. Chapter members have also traveled to Florida Solar Energy Center to meet with director, James Fenton, attended Sugarland Rally in Cleweston, and the Clean Water Declaration Campaign in Gainesville.
All are welcome to attend our meetings and we welcome new members. Please keep in touch with the West Central Chapter, by following us on facebook.
